2016 Jetta And Passat Take Home 5-Star Safety Ratings

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) has served as a trusted source of vehicle safety information for consumers for more than three decades. Their highest designation is a five-star overall safety rating. It’s a rating they’ve been giving out quite a bit to Volkswagen lately, with the 2016 Jetta and Passat, equipped with optional Front Assist, among the VW models that have earned the prestigious honor. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), another well-respected organization with a long history, has also doled out their highest safety rating to the two automobiles, naming them each as a Top Safety Pick+.

Safety is a built into every 2016 Volkswagen Passat and 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, with antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and six airbags all standard. Both cars sport a combination of passive and active systems engineered to meet—or in many cases exceed—current crash regulations. These systems have paid off. To earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation, vehicles must receive the highest designation in each of five crashworthiness tests, as well as an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.

Key to the high safety ratings of both the Passat and the Jetta was the inclusion of the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system. The system makes use of radar to monitor the distance between your Volkswagen vehicle and the traffic ahead. When the system detects an imminent collision, it alerts drivers to the danger both audibly and visually. If the driver doesn’t apply the brakes, the system will take over to automatically slow the vehicle down.

Here at Bill Jacobs Volkswagen, we serve drivers from all throughout Chicago, IL, and safety is always a top priority when they shop for a new vehicle. We’re proud to offer them peace of mind in the form of impressive Volkswagen models. Beyond the Passat and Jetta, the Golf 4-Door, Golf GTI 4-Door, and Golf SportWagen have each been named as an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with Front Assist. So come in today, and let us help you get behind the wheel of some of the safest cars on the road.
