The Volkswagen Jetta has always provided a handsome interior with soft-touch materials and quality features. It also provides a surprisingly roomy back seat and big trunk space, making the Volkswagen Jetta a versatile choice for any driver. The new Volkswagen Jetta will carry those same components with some upgraded tech and features. Expect to find these great elements on the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta:
The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta redesign will be subtle. Compared to earlier model Volkswagen Jetta models, you will see an upgraded grille, front bumper, wheel design, and front & rear lighting. This will make the new 2022 Volkswagen Jetta look leaner and sleeker overall. One thing that will remain the same is the Volkswagen trim structure. Expect to choose between the typical S, SE, SEL, and R-Line variants for your new Jetta. As you climb the trims, more high-end appointments will be added to your car.
We don’t know what the official engine will be yet. However, there is high speculation that the Jetta engine will get an upgrade. With the new subcompact VW Taos coming out soon, the 2022 VW Jetta could share that new SUV’s 1.5L turbo four-cylinder engine, which would up the horsepower on the Jetta. We hope to see about a 20 pony increase for the standard VW Jetta engine. Of course, the speedier VW Jetta GLI models are an excellent option if you have a need for speed.
The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta redesign will be subtle. The interior features will be upgraded, and the infotainment screens will be larger. You can expect slight changes to the grille, front bumper, and lighting elements on the outside. This new iteration will be similar to the Jetta you know and love with some small glow-up elements.
The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is about as satisfying as moderately priced sports sedans get. The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is simple and well-executed. The high-performance 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI enjoys the same spacious interior and large trunk but adds a zestier 228-hp turbo four, an independent rear suspension, and stellar ride-and-handling tuning. This combination makes the GLI quick and agile whether you shift for yourself with the standard manual transmission or opt for the dual-clutch automatic.
Previously available in base S or fully loaded Autobahn trim levels, the Jetta GLI is now only offered in a single specification: it now comes standard with all of the upgrades that were once reserved for the Autobahn. This includes adaptive dampers, a digital gauge cluster, leather upholstery, a powerful audio system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and wireless charging. Shoppers can still choose between a manual or automatic transmission, but the latter costs extra.
While the GLI has the same basic layout and generous passenger space as the standard Jetta, a few bits of red trim spice things up. The 2022 Volkswagen GLI has upscale standard features such as a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, customizable ambient interior lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. The sportiest Jetta is also surprisingly practical. The compact sedan has a massive trunk that managed to hold seven carry-on suitcases.
Since the Jetta GLI shares its turbocharged four-cylinder with two different transmissions, it gets separate fuel-economy ratings. The standard six-speed manual transmission is estimated to earn 26 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. Models equipped with the optional seven-speed automatic can expect to see 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, according to its government ratings.
The Jetta GLI is loaded with standard driver-assistance technology, including automatic high beams and lane-keeping assist. Key safety features include:
