For 2022, the Tiguan has a refreshed look to appear more like the new Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. New LED headlamps, revised grille and bumpers, and new wheel designs give the 2022 Tiguan a more modern appearance.
The new 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has a starting MSRP of $26,490. The 2022 VW Tiguan comes in four available models which include; the Volkswagen Tiguan S, Volkswagen Tiguan SE, Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line, and Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line. Stepping up to the mid-range SE trim adds 18-inch wheels, a power-operated rear liftgate, lane-keeping assist, and the new semi-autonomous driving mode. A panoramic sunroof is an additional option on the SE model.

The Tiguan has an upgraded exterior for 2022. The new frontal end with a wider grille and a distinct bumper gives the Tiguan a more athletic look. Daytime running lights and LED headlights, which are standard on the 2022 VW Tiguan, complete the new design. Volkswagen also updated its logo, which now includes an illuminated light line that circles the emblem.
Inside the 2022 VW Tiguan is a new steering wheel and the 8-inch digital cluster comes standard. The infotainment system is updated and now offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities on all but the S model. Touch-sensitive climate controls are offered on upper trim levels and capacitive buttons on the steering wheel come standard on R-Line models. Heated front seats are newly standard on the base S trim. The SEL R-Line has a larger 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and also adds cooled front seats. A large brown leather interior is newly offered on the top trim, the VW Tiguan SEL R-Line.
The Tiguan will still be available with either standard front-wheel drive or optional 4Motion all-wheel drive. FWD models come with a third row of seats providing seven-passenger capacity, but a third row is no longer an option on AWD models. That means that the loaded SEL R-Line trim level, which comes standard with 4Motion, is five-passenger-only. The other models include the base S, the mid-level SE, and the SE R-Line which has an appearance package including black wheels.
For 2022, the engine in the VW Tiguan has the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that comes standard across the board. It makes 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. driving the front wheels as standard or Volkswagens’ 4Motion AWD system optionally.

The 2022 VW Tiguan R-Line is the sport package. On the exterior of the Tiguan, the R-Line package adds aero-influenced front and rear bumpers, quad exhaust outlets, and alloy wheels. Inside, the Tiguan R-Line gets metal pedal covers and a flat-bottom steering wheel with big thumb detents that help the drive feel much sportier.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan comes with a four-year or 50,000 miles limited warranty. The powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles.
