2026 Volkswagen Tiguan Named Winner of Cars.com’s Compact SUV Challenge

The all-new 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan continues to earn praise from industry experts—and now it has another major award to add to the list. Cars.com recently named the 2026 Tiguan the winner of its Compact SUV Challenge, recognizing Volkswagen’s latest SUV as the top choice in one of the most competitive vehicle segments on the market.

The Cars.com Compact SUV Challenge evaluated eight popular compact SUVs priced under approximately $45,000, including both hybrid and gas-powered models. Editors tested each vehicle in real-world driving situations, comparing performance, comfort, technology, cargo space, fuel economy, interior quality, and overall value.

After extensive testing, the 2026 Tiguan came out on top.

According to Cars.com senior road test editor Mike Hanley, the Tiguan stood out for more than just its driving experience. Judges praised its upscale interior quality, premium amenities, and impressive passenger space—qualities that helped secure the number-one ranking in the comparison test.
