Vehicles that perform best in evaluations for TOP SAFETY PICK are awarded this coveted title. TOP SAFETY PICK+ is the higher of the Institute’s two awards. To qualify, vehicles must earn appropriate scores in all six IIHS crashworthiness reviews. Additionally, these vehicles must earn superior or advanced scores in each car-to-car and car-to-pedestrian reviews and include appropriate or desirable headlights throughout all trim levels.
The new Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV qualifies for a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Volkswagen ID.4 meets all the requirements for good ratings on all six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations. This midsize electric SUV comes with a standard front crash prevention system, which earned a superior rating in the vehicle-to-vehicle evaluation, in addition to an advanced rating in the vehicle-t0-pedestrian evaluation.
The 2021 Volkswagen Arteon was awarded the 2021 Top Safety Pick for Large Car/4-door hatchback.
