2022 Chicago Auto Show Recap

The 2022 Chicago Auto is taking place at the McCormick Center from February 12th through the 21st. McCormick Place is located at 2301 S. King Drive in Chicago, Illinois. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 62+ and $10 for children 4-12. The show has a rich history and is the largest auto show in North America. First staged in 1901, this year marks the 115th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. The show this year features the following manufacturers:

Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Jeep, KIA, Lamborghini, Lexus, Lincoln, Maserati, Nissan, Ram, Roll-Royce, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Display at the Chicago Auto Show

If you plan to attend the 2022 Chicago Auto, make sure to stop by the Volkswagen display. The display features the latest VW models, including a few VW ID.4 models. On display at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, you will see a 2022 Taos SEL, 2022 VW Golf R, 2022 VW Jetta GLI 2.oT Autobahn, 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport SEL Premium R-Line, 2022 VW Atlas R-Line, 2021 ID.4 Pro S and the 2022 VW Arteon.

2022 Volkswagen Taos: The Volkswagen Taos is all-new for 2022. Taos is a compact crossover that seats 5 passengers and is only offered as a 4-door wagon. Three trims are offered: S, SE and SEL. One engine is offered: A turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional. The Taos has a starting MSRP of $23,295.

2022 Volkswagen Golf: The Volkswagen Golf is all-new for 2022 and features a completely redesigned exterior, interior, and new powertrains. The VW Golf will only be offered in GTI and R trim in the States starting in 2022. The Golf is a compact car that seats 5 and is only available as a 4-door hatchback. Four trims are offered: S, SE, Autobahn, and R. Two engines are available: A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 241 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 315 horsepower in the Golf R. Both pair to either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Golf R is the high-performance, range-topping model of the Golf lineup, and is hailed as one of the best-performing, most capable hot hatchbacks in production. It can do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta: The Volkswagen Jetta gets refreshed exterior styling in 2022, as well as a new, more powerful standard engine. The Jetta is a compact car that seats 5 passengers and is only offered as a 4-door sedan. Five trims are offered: S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI. Two engines are offered: A turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 158 horsepower and mates to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 228 horsepower pairs with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (GLI).

2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport: The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport sees the addition of an R-Line Black appearance package in 2022, as well as the streamlining of options and equipment packaging. The Atlas Cross Sport is a midsize three-row “coupe” crossover that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door wagon. Four trims are available: S, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium. Two engines are offered: A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 235 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 276 horsepower. Both pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional.

2022 Volkswagen Atlas: The Volkswagen Atlas sees the addition of an R-Line Black appearance package in 2022, as well as the streamlining of options and equipment packaging. The Atlas is a midsize three-row crossover that seats 7 passengers and is only available as a 4-door wagon. Four trims are available: S, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium. Two engines are offered: A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 235 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 276 horsepower. Both pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4: The Volkswagen ID.4 sees the addition of a brake auto-hold feature in 2022, improved charging times, as well as an unspecified improved driving range. The ID.4 is an electric car that seats 5 passengers and is only offered as a 4-door wagon. Two trims are offered: Pro and Pro S. One drivetrain is available: An 82 kWh battery that produces 202 horsepower and pairs to a single-speed transmission. 2021 models have an estimated range between 250 and 260 miles on a single charge, and VW claims improved figures 2022 models, though it has yet to reveal those.

2022 Volkswagen Arteon: The Volkswagen Arteon gets a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in 2022, as well as a more powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Its price also increases by $3,000. The Arteon is a midsize car that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door sedan. Three trims are offered: SE, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line. One engine is offered: A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 300 horsepower and pairs to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional.
